Begin by removing the fog light connector on your Mercedes-Benz. Take hold of the fog light lightbulb, push in and turn at the same time to remove it. Reverse the process to install your new fog light lightbulb.

the front fog light takes bulb number 899 according to my owners manual.

You can change it yourself.. not really that hard.. Open the hood then look on the engine side of the headlight. There is a black cover that removes by moving the clip. Then remove the wire from the bulb. next, there is a metal clip. It is a little hard to get the clip off but once you get it off it is very easy.. Just remove the clip then take out old bulb and replace.
When mine went out the dealer replaced it...evidently it was included in the warranty...you can also call a GM dealer and talk to the part or garage and they can tell you how to do it..it should also be in the owners manual. To replace the foglight, remove the headlight by pulling on two tabs straight up. Then wiggle the headlight towards the front of the car. Directly below the where the headlight was is the foglight. Twist about a 1/4 turn and pull directly out. Be careful not to touch the new bulb.
The fog lamps are located in back of the head lights. To replace bulb, lift hood, reach to the rear of head lights, remove cover, and unplug brown wire. A brace clip holds the bulb in place. Push clip to release and remove bulb. After replacing bulb return components and cap.

If I understand your question........the rear license plate lights on 2005 C240 have a clear cover with 2 Phillips head screws. Just take out screws to replace bulb. (easier if trunk lid is completely open).
