There are three main steps behind replacing the alternator on the 1998 Chrysler Concorde. The first is disconnecting the battery cables for safety. Second, is depressing the belt tensioner to allow for the release of the drive belt. Finally the alternator can be unbolted from its bracket for replacement. If the drive belt, idler pulley and tensioner are worn it would be an ideal time to replace this components as part of the install.
Yes,
Replace the tensioner assembly as one piece.

my husband just did so. the pulley is part of the air condition compressor, so you have to replace the whole part that's connected to the pulley, you can'tjust replace the pulley it self, and going to the junk yard for these partsis very cheap and the way to go.
There is a power steering pulley puller that only uses the hub portion to remove it from the pump shaft. An auto parts store should have such a tool for rent or purchase.
No you don't have to remove the air conditioner dryer to use the pulley.........
There is a special tool that is required to change the pulley. The tool screws into the the threads on the pulley and then when you turn the center of the tool with a wrench, it pushed the pulley from the compressor. The tool also comes with an adapter to press the new pulley in place.
Loosen the idler pulley adjuster bolt, located behind the pulley bearing. Slip off the old belt and install the new one, being Sure that you have it routed the same way as the old one. STANDARD SAFETY PROCEDURES APPLY!
Yes, you need a puller to remove the crank pulley.
To loosen a tension pulley on a 1991 Chrysler New Yorker, turn the nut in the center of the pulley. This will allow the pulley to slide in the cut-out groove so that the belt will loosen.
That would be the crankshaft pulley.
