I have a 1994 Trooper V6. Hope this helps... Remove Power Steering belt by first loosening bolt on moon shaped part. Entire assembly should pivot to remove belt. Remove AC belt by lowering pulley on bottom right. Now, to remove alternator belt: Under alternator is a 12mm bolt and a long 10mm bolt. Loosen 10 mm to point that you can hand turn (DO NOT REMOVE). Loosen slightly the 12mm bolt (DO NOT REMOVE). If loosened correctly the alternator will pivot on top bolt and the belt will come off easily. To replace, using a pry bar to push alternator from block, very carefully, after new belt is on. Tighten 10mm by hand then with wrench. Check tension of belt as you tighten. When belt has a very small deflection tighten 12mm bolt. Reverse steps from here.
how to change an alternator
Its in the alternator
on the power steering pump bracket on the side closest to the battery look for a 1/2" square hole (incidently use this with a 1/2'" drive socket wrench to leverage belt tension after you put on the new belt when you get there) just below this square hole is the tension bolt for the power steering belt adjustment
To replace an Isuza Rodeo steering the steering column should first be removed. Pop off the front steering wheel cover to see the steering wheel nut. Loosen the nut and remove the wheel.
What about this tensioner? How do you remove it, or how do you releave the tension so you can replace the belt?
Alternator number is 2-90276-830-2 and MSRP is $505.24. So retail might be around $590.00.
Assuming it's the 3.2L engine, its mounted on the front passenger side of the motor below the power steering pump.
Bracketry Systems in Texas makes a bracket kit to replace the factory alternator with a J180 mount 200 amp alternator
3; alternator, power steering, air conditioner... There is the timing belt also. It is behind some covers at the front of the engine.
On a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo, the alternator is on the passenger side of the motor. It can be accessed from the top, as well as limited access can be achieved via the right side wheel well from the top of the tire. DISCONNECT BATTERY PRIOR TO REMOVING any part of the alternator. 2 bolts hold the alternator to its bracket. You need not remove the bracket to remove the alternator. One bolt is on the top, front of the alternator and one bolt is on the bottom, front of the alternator. The Bottom, front bolt is also connected to the belt tension adjustment. Release the tension first, then remove the bolt. On the back of the alternator is a small screw with a attached and a plug in the side of the alternator. These two items can be seen from the right side wheel well, looking above and over the tire. Hope this helps.
The alternator is located on the passenger side of the engine near the bottom. I found it is easiest to remove it from inside the wheel well. There should be 2 bolts holding it to the alternator bracket that mounts to the block. Unbolting the alternator and them disconnecting the wires running to it is easiest. Installation is the reverse of the removal.
