When you put 3 cookie sheets in an oven why doesn't the bottom sheet burn?

The bottom sheet does not burn because one would be careful not to position the bottom rack too close to the heating element.

In a electric oven were does the heat come from?

A typical electric oven has a heating element, a length of metal that acts as an electrical resistor. As electrical current passes through, the heating element becomes hot. The oven will either be a convection oven or not. A non convection oven relies on the heating element warming the air, and this in turn warms the food. A convection oven uses circulating air inside the oven. Circulating the air causes faster heat transfer from the heating element to the air, and faster heat transfer from the air to the food than with simple heat conduction only.

Can you put the baking tray from your old oven in the bottom of your new fan-assisted oven to keep it clean?

Yes its a good idea, Make sure their is no heating element under the base, in your oven, Otherwise should be fine, I put all my oven trays, upside down, in the dishwasher regularly, Saves a lot of scrubbing,

What is the heating element in a mircowave?

There is no heating element, as such, in a Microwave Oven. The oven uses a low power transmission system with a cavity magnetron producing centimeter wavelength radio signals. These radio signals, in this frequency range, stimulate water in the oven. The stimulation causes molecular friction, which in turn produces heat in the food. If you have something that's totally dry in the oven, it will not even get warm.

How do you remove melted aluminum on the bottom of the closed heating element from the oven?

Depending on how severe the bond of the melted aluminum is to the oven bottom, there are two ways to resolve this problem. If very severe, the option is to replace the bottom plate which would probably cost only $30. If the bond melted material is only minimal, caustic soda can be used to clean it out. Use rubber gloves and the area must be properly ventilated?æbefore starting as the chemical reaction of caustic soda releases fumes that are harmful if inhaled.

Why do biscuits burn before their time is up?

The oven is too hot and/or you have the pan too close to the heating element.

How do ovens work?

Conventional ovens generate heat using up to two heating elements, one on the top of the oven (used for broiling) and one on the bottom of the oven (used for baking and roasting). These heating elements may be fueled by natural gas or electricity. In gas ovens, the user can see blue flames around rod-like heating elements; in electric ovens, coils snaking along the top and bottom of the oven turn bright red as they heat up. Regardless of how an oven is heated, inside the oven it will always be hotter on the top than it is on the bottom. This is called natural convection (hot air rises, and cold air sinks) and requires oven users to sometimes rotate the food as it bakes or roasts.Controls on the outside of a conventional oven are manual or computerized. Either way, an oven user must set an oven's thermostat to a particular temperature to turn the oven on. To turn the oven off, the user sets the temperature to zero degrees. (This is usually marked as "Off" on the oven's controls as well.) Some computerized ovens come with timers; users can then tell the oven when to turn on and at what temperature, as well as when to shut off.Broiling often means that only the top heating element is turned on. When broiling with an electric oven, a user must keep the oven door open a crack to fool the thermostat. If the door is kept closed, the oven will heat up to around 500 degrees and automatically shut off (a common safety feature). When using a gas oven to broil, a user must first determine if the broiling heating element is on the top of the oven (like it is in electric ovens) or if the only heating element is on the bottom of the oven, in which case a drawer will open beneath the oven, revealing a broiling rack very close to the floor. When broiling using a gas oven, the door may be closed.Self-cleaning ovens oxidize the dirt inside them by heating up to around 900 degrees. The oven door automatically locks while the oven is cleaning itself to prevent a curious oven user from opening the door and being burned. A self-cleaning cycle can last up to 3 hours, and the oven door is automatically unlocked when the oven returns to a safer temperature (usually below 600 degrees). Ovens that offer this convenience are better insulated than those that don't.Read more 'How Do Ovens Work?' by clicking the link below.

What effect does wattage of an oven element have on its heat dissipation?

If they have a warming element, that will only use about 100 watts. Heating elements in a typical kitchen stove oven use 3000 watts or more. Heating elements in a typical kitchen stove oven use 3,000 watts or more. Convection ovens can use from 32 percent to 45 percent less power than standard ovens.

How does a oven work?

Ovens work by using heating elements that are usually located on the top and bottom of the inside of the oven. Typically, gas or electricity fuels the elements to heat the contents of the oven. Oven have controls on the outside to set the temperature and turn the elements on.

What oven rack should you place an unbaked pie?

If you're recipe doesn't specify otherwise, use the center rack--that should provide good heat circulation and keep the pie away from the heating element on the bottom of the oven. You might want to also consider putting the pie on a cooking sheet covered with aluminum foil to catch drips and ensure even cooking of the bottom crust.

Is there a temperature difference at the top of an oven compared to the bottom?

I usually do it on the middle one and the cake comes out fantastic!

In a convection oven what is actually convecting?

What is actually "convecting" in a convection oven is the air. A fan moves the air around in a convection oven, and the air picks up heat from the heating element and "convects" it to the food being cooked. The heat is then transferred out of the air and into the food.
