The car came with 2 cards with the code written on them. If you can't find these cards or it was not written down in your owner's manual, you will have to remove the radio and get the serial # off it. With this serial # Honda can supply the code. Better write it down for future battery replacement. found mine on the inside of the fuse box cover under the hood (03 element) Also found mine on the inside of the fuse box cover under the hood. It's a 5-digit number and is not labeled. Thanks to previous poster for info! Answer Bingo! These hints helped me find mine (03 element). It was on the door jamb inside the hatchback at the top. (I think that's where the radio antenna comes through to the roof. Maybe they thought that was a logical place to put it!)

Your E is trying to tell you it needs service. You need to take it somewhere and have the codes read to find out what is wrong - could be many things. It also sounds as if your E might be running in "gimp" mode - which it will do until the problem is repaired. Gimp mode is a restricted engine fail-safe mode so you don't ruin your E by continuing to drive it "hard" after getting the "Flashing D" error code.
