can i upgrade infiniti i35 gear shifter to infiniti i30
Once you remove the dust cover attached to your shifter, you'll see your shaft going into a gear box. There will be a pin to remove and this will allow you to pull the shifter right out. good luck
You need to replace an oil seal on the gearbox.
You cannot "fix" it. But you can replace it in about an hour.
shifter rod gear linkage
Could be your shifter cable has stretched and you need to replace it? On my 1995 Saturn SL2 I could not keep the shifter in 3rd gear. I replaced the tranny with one from the junkyard and the problem still persisted. I talked to Saturn and they said it was my shifter cable. I installed the shifter cable and the new tranny goes into 3rd gear without any problems. Please use this as an FYI. It was time consuming and expensive to replace the shifter cable, but a lot less expensive than the tranny. Hopefully it is something simpler for you.
your shifter linkage is probably broken.
Just put the gear shifter into od and go.Just put the gear shifter into od and go.
If you pull off the outer and inner covers under your steering column on the right side, you will find a hook that moves as the shifter moves. Attached to it is a small cable about the size of a really skinny spaghetti noodle. That is the cable that moves your gear indicator. Sitting back about 2 inches from that is a wheel that you can turn that will adjust your gear setting. Hopefully, this is helpful. I already had the covers off to fix an electrical problem and I just happened to have that shifter problem. And what I found was that the plastic bracket holding the cable adjust nut was broken. I will now fabricate a new metal bracket.
could be burning either gear oil, or motor oil. check for leaks and replace gear oil
The gear shifter has a retaining clip, just below the shifter knob. Hold the retaining clip in, on both sides of the shifter rod, and the shifter knob will come off.
