How do you replace the horn on a 2000 Mazda Protege and where is it?

I could not find it either :)

Its under the front grill :-) just remove the grill (two screw on top as I remember and then you have to just pull it off) and rest is VERY VERY simple :-)

It is buried up under the right front fender. I am going to replace mine as it is not sounding very loud. You can get at the feed wire easy enough. So I will mount the new horn in a more accessable location

Well I had a 1995 Protege but I think is on the same place. It's beehint the right corner of the front cover. You have to remove the black cover under the car to see it. Mazda hide pretty well.

I have a 1993 Mazda Protege LX and I was told that there is no relay for the horn, there is a horn switch inside your steering wheel. that might help

Because the foam separator has deteriorated. Remove three screws from back side of horn, remove honk button and separate. you can the figure out what new material to use to replace the bad foam.

Just behind the right corner of the front bumper. You have to remove the black cover under the car to see it. Mazda hide it pretty well.

There are three screws that hold the center of your steering wheel on. once you take these screws off you will see that the center of the wheel where the horn trigger is has but a piece of foam in it to keep the horn from going off after time the foam will break down replace the foam and you are good to go.

remove passenger side signal front light first then passenger headlight and horn should be right behind below the side passenger signal light!

Replace the horn relay. Also look at the foam padding in the steering wheel,it may be worn out. My 99 escort had a stuck horn...pull out the foam switch in front of the air bag, move it around a little, clean the contacts, then test it with a multimeter to make sure it un-stuck itself. -Matt http://www.olszak.net
