you have to have a small chisel or a screw driver and a hammer to take off the two bolts that is holding down the key cylinder. those bolts does not have a head like ordinary bolts have. angle the chisel so that it would bite a little of the head. gently tap the chisel going counter clockwise. be careful on the chisel not to take the whole head of the bolt, because you will need them to put the new key cylinder back on. good luck.
Turn the switch to on, then under the steering column cover below the switch is a hole. You push a pin in to release the switch. You'll have to fish around to get the spot where the pin is. Or take the bottom cover off to see it better.
The switch is on the steering column under the eash. The lock cylinder is under the steering wheel. I suggest taking it to a garage as trying to do anything around the air bag can accidentally deploy it and it is expensive {About $900}
There are 2 lights. One is a check engine light which means the emmisions system needs service and there is a problem with the OBD system. Another light is a service light which just means you need to change the oil. Your owners manual will tell you which is which.
1. Remove the lower steering wheel shroud. For a 1998 Jeep Cherokee it is connected with three #2 Phillips screws underneath. 2. Put the key in the ignition, turn the ignition to ON. On the key cylender, in the middle bottom, is a rectangular button. Press it all the way in, with a small bladed standard screwdriver. 3. Pull the key cylender out. Reverse steps to reinstall.
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod. NOTE On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not normally visible. On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch is accessible under the dash.
The ignition switch is operated by the key switch. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company. To replace the switch: * Remove the ignition switch wiring harness. * Unbolt it from its position. * Bolt the new switch into position. * Attach the witing harness.

you get a pair of pliers and jiggle it out and turn the wheel left and right and it should come out
