Here's the process as described in the Bentley manual: (red parentheses are mine)
"Carefully pry out license place light (lens from the top) with a suitable tool (screwdriver blade) until retaining tab releases.
* Remove license plate light and disconnect harness connector.
* To remove bulb. turn bulb holder counterclockwise and pull out from housing.
CAUTION-
Do not touch the glass portion of the bulb with bare hands. The moisture and/or grease from fingers that evaporates on the bulb during operation, can cause the glass to cloud over."
