Find the filter located somewhere on the engine block. Remove it, making sure the old gasket is not left behind. You may need to use a filter wrench if it is too tight to be removed by hand. Wipe the mounting surface with a clean shop towel to remove any debris. Now apply a slight amount of oil to the new filter gasket. Install the new filter and tighten it 3/4 turn after it makes contact with the mounting surface. NO MORE, NO LESS!!!

The Chevy Cavalier does have a fresh air intake filter. The fresh air intake filter is located behind the passenger side kick plate.
The oil filter is located on the passenger side of the engine I got at mine from the top of the car and found it easiest to replace it from there. It is down middle of the engine.
Replace the spark plugs and the spark plug wires. Replace the air filter. Replace the oil and oil filter. Replace the fuel filter.
The fuel filter is located just above the rear axle.
It is located right above the rear axle.
Behind the gas tank.
