Follow the positive cable on the battery.
There is a fuse attached to the positive battery cable harness, somewhere near the battery. Find that fuse and replace it. This might just solve the problem. The fuse is not attached to the battery cable, but in the vicinity of the battery batteries positive side.

To change the positive battery cable on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee trace the end of the cable to the starter. Unplug the battery then remove the cable from the starter. Measure the old positive cable with the new and be sure to replace the unit at the right size.
disconnect the positive battery cable then reconnect.

There are two posts on the starter solenoid when the starter is in position the top one is for the positive battery cable. The bottom one should have a very short cable that enters the starter casing. I just replaced the starter in my 98 mazda protege yesterday.

Disconnect the cable from the LeSabre battery. Follow the route of the cable and disconnect the other end. Pull the cable out, then fit the new cable in the same direction. Connect the non battery end, then connect to the battery.
the negative cable is the one tha go to the chassy or the engine . And the positive go to the fuse box.
The positive battery terminal cable will always run to the alternator- just follow it down.
