** Be sure to have your wheel locked in the straight position and the key removed to avoid damage to the slide contacts for the airbag system. First, there are two fittings you need to remove, these are the high pressure and return lines located on the drivers side of the rack near the steeering shaft connection (follow the lines to the fittings, it isn't easy getting at these). Next, remove the rubber boots on either side of the rack and unscrew the inner tie rods. Now, you will see two large bolts through the K member, you have to remove the nuts (holes to access the nuts are cut in back of K member) leave the bolts in, to hold the rack up for now. You now have to remove the pinch bolt from the steering flexishaft. this is accessed from the opposite side of the k member near the drivers tire. pulll the bolts out now, the rack will be free and should come down with a little twisting and turning. If the lines on the rack itself are leaking you can call a Ford dealer and order them pre-bent and flared with fittings for about 8 dollars apiece... (been there)
