undo the 2 screws on the front facia under the hatch when opened and then there is a plastic type wing nut that fixes light from inside it is near to where wiring plugs into light cluster.think its black in colour undo this and the cluster will come out.
High-Level brake lamp bulb change.
Open the hatch back.
Remove the two rubber grommets behind the stop lamp.
Insert the flat blade of a screwdriver into each hole and press down the spring clip. The light unit will pop out of its seat.
Close the hatch and change the 16W wedge fitting bulb.
Click the light unit back into place and replace the two rubber grommets.
Easy when you know how!
To change brake/tail light you need to remove the two screws in the tailgate jam, by the upper support cable of the tailgate (much easier with tailgate lowered!) and the tail light housing should pop out. The socket for the light is a quarter turn counter clockwise and the bulb is exposed.
Open the hatch and take out the two rubber grommets from behind the brake-light unit. Insert the flat blade of a screwdriver into each hole and press down the spring clip, releasing the light unit from its seat. Drop the hatch and replace the 18watt wedge-ended bulb. Push the unit back into its seat and replace the two grommets.
Open tailgate. Look for the two Philips headed screws located in the area typically occupied by the closed tailgate. Remove two Philips head screws. Gently pull the tail light assembly towards you. Rotate blub holders (brake light and tail light). Replace bubls or tail/brake light assembly. Installation is reverse of removal.
Gently pry out top of the tailgate trim to get access to light harness plug. Disconnect it. Remove two screws holding light assembly. Install new light and connect to harness.
Open the tailgate. About 5" back from where the tailgate closes, there are two 10mm screws on the edge.
You have to open the rear hatch like you would to replace the reg. brake lights. Screws should be accessible once hatch is fully open.
when you put the tailgate down there will be two screws to remove the light assembly. then to open the light assembly it requires a 1/4" nut driver I believe? good luck its easy
