To get to the rear taillights you just need a 10mm socket or wrench. there are two bolts at an angle in the bed of the truck just inches in from the tailgate one over the other. if you have a bed liner youll need to remove or at least pull the farther back section out a bit to see the bolts. then just remove the two bolts and pull the tailight assembly straight out. and put back together in reverse order hope this answers your question.

Added: If you have a tailgate extender, these two bolts double as the bolts for the extender bracket. There are also two plastic "pop out" fasteners along the outer side of the lens assembly (re-emphasize "pull straight out"). I also had to remove the whole bed liner. To do this, remove the 4 plastic retaining fasteners then pull the liner forward, tilt up and out. Easier with two people. Thanks to the original poster!
