The thermostat is located on the top of the engine, where the top radiator hose is connected. The hose has to be disconnected, and the inlet on the engine is removed, with the thermostat underneath.
The engine computer is under the hood, centered below the windshield.
Follow the upper radiator hose to where it meets the engine. Remove the two bolts of the thermostat housing and remove and replace the thermostat.
Drain the radiator. disconnect the top radiator hose from the engine. Remove the water inlet that the hose was hooked to. The thermostat is in the housing. Replace the gasket when replacing the thermostat.
Drain the radiator. Remove the radiator hose. Remove the inlet from the engine. The thermostat is in the inlet. Replace the inlet and the gasket, and reverse the procedure to finish the procedure.
You can find the 1991 Dodge Shadow thermostat in the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing will be on the front of the engine.

Loosen the alternator bracket, move it out of the way. The thermostat is at the end of the upper radiator hose where it curves into the engine
There is no assembling it. If it is apart, replace it. If you mean how is it installed, the spring side goes towards the engine block.
Replace it.
If you have a 3.5L engine, just follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The hose attaches to the thermostat housing. remove the 2 bolts and the thermostat is right there. Do not use the rubber ring sold with the new thermostat unless your housing is plastic. Install new thermostat with the spring facing the engine (down).
Trace the upper rad hose from the radiator to the engine ane at the engine there is the thermostat housing. Take the bolts out ane hoses off and when you reinstall the thermostat make sure the spring goes toward the engine.
