The thermostat is located under a housing that is connected to the motor side of the upper radiator hose. To access the thermostat, disconnect the radiator hose from the motor and remove two bolts from this housing. If I remember correctly however, you will probably need to remove the serpentine belt and also disconnect the battery (to protect the next item), alternator, AC compressor, and bracket that holds the alternator and AC compressor just to be able to get to the thermostat. If that is correct, don't remove wires from alternator (or you'll probably be buying a new one) or system lines from compressor (or you'll have to recharge it). Just disconnect them from the bracket and swing them out of the way. Hope this helped! Mark

The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing which is connected to the engine side of the upper radiator hose, and bolts to the intake manifold with 2 bolts. To replace, drain and properly dispose of coolant, remove upper radiator hose, and remove thermostat housing. The thermostat sits in a recess between housing and manifold. Replace with correct thermostat with the correct side facing engine, new gasket and a little sealant.

there is a big hose going from the top of your radiator, to the engine block. where the hose meets the block, there is a metal fitting sttatched with 2 bolts. remove the bolts and you will see your thermostat sticking out. pull the old thermostat out, scrape the gaskets off and replace the unit, and the gaskets, and put it all back together.

Remove the top radiator hose from the thermostat housing, its the round thing up front of the motor that the hose leads to it from the radiator. Then remove the bolts holding on to the top part of the housing, replace and reset all parts removed.

User Avatar

To change that thermostat you need to follow the top radiator hose to the motor from the radiator. It will lead to the thermostat housing on the block. The housing will be anchored with (2) bolts to the block (I think). Take the housing off and the thermostat is housed inside.you will have to replace it with a manufactured suggested thermo(probably 180* or 200 degree thermo).
