If the temperature on your van goes up and down like mine does I doubt it is your thermo. I changed mine 3 times and never solved the problem. Going to try new radiator cap next.
But it is located on the right side o the motor....just behind the the top hose on the motor (very very hard to get to)
Mine is in the shop now for the same thing. I thought it was a thermostat but it is the air intake gasket. Approx cost of repair is $750.00 if temperature gauge fluxuates its very possible its a head gasket

follow the top radiator hose to the engine. its under the cover.

The thermostat is located on the driver's side of the engine. The thermostat and thermostat housing is mounted on the lower intake manifold. You should be able to follow the radiator hose up to the housing. It is a little hard to see however. Mike
