drain about 1/2 gallon of antifreeze from radiator Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine--should be a housing held on by 2 bolts remove the 2 bolts Thermostat should fall out--notice how it came out Clean both sides of housing replace gasket Tighten both bolts evenly and securely. Add coolant slowly to prevent system from becoming "airbound" check for leaks bring to normal operating temp and recheck coolant levels
To replace a thermostat on a 2000 Ford F-250 V10, drain the radiator. Locate the thermostat on the top hose assembly and remove the screw. Replace the thermostat and refill the radiator.
Find the thermostat at the engine end of the upper rad hose. When you replace it , make sure the spring goes toward the engine.
Follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat.

This is a 15 year old vehicle. The thermostat is very cheap insurance. Just replace it when performing a cooling system service. Replace it by removing the old thermostat, carefully cleaning off the old gasket. Install the new gasket & thermostat, spring toward engine block, and tighten to factory specs, and no more.
