My turn signal switch died on my 92 Grand Prix. Rather than attempting the repair, I took it to a shop. The steering column had to be removed to get to the switch.
To replace a turn signal switch on a 2003 Pontiac Aztek, also known as a flash relay, the steering column must be removed. The flash relay is located under the turn signal. Remove the mounting hardware and the unit can be taken off.
The 1991 Pontiac turn signal flasher relay switch can be found beneath the drivers side dashboard. The turn signal flasher relay switch will be above the gas pedal.
On my 2001 it is part of the Hazard switch. You have to replace the entire switch on a 2001.

The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado turn signal switch is located below the dashboard, on the drivers side of the passenger compartment. The turn signal switch simply plugs in and out.

The turn signal switch is located on the left side of the steering column just behind the steering wheel. It also controls Headlights, Hi/Lo beam and cruise control.
It has been some times since I work on a model close to this. I think you have to remove the steering wheel possibly with a wheel puller. The switch will then be exposed. You disconnect the turn signal switch wiring farther down the steering column by removing a panel. If you look at a new switch, that might help. Larry

The flasher is broken. It is located inside the hazard switch and easy to replace. The switch is about $30 from the dealership and takes 10 minutes to replace.
