the water pump is driven by the timing chain and it takes a good day to replace it you have to revmove the timing chain cover and then remove the timing chains to get to the water pump and then time the cams it is not easy

Edit - I don't know about the later engines although they are probably the same. The 96-99's have an access cover for the timing chain tensioner to provide slack. then there is actually an access cover for the water pump. you will have to remove the right engine mount and bracket, as well as the idler pulley bracket. then remove the two covers. push the tensioner sleve back and put in pin in to hold it. remove the tensioner. remove the water pump. there are holes you can insert bolts in and turn them both to slowly pull it out. don't drop anything inside the timing chain cover!! that's it. replace the o-rings and put some gasket sealant on the cover plates. then put it all back together
