You as a normal mechanically inclined person can not replace the bearings in your 2002 Toyota. The whole steering knuckle has to be removed and the bearings need to be hydraulically pressed out and replaced by same press. You need a hydraulic machine to do this. Believe me. I had a "Buddy" do mine who is a master mechanic as a job. He did it at his house. I was there to help. Biggest pain in the A$$ ever. He had never seen that before. Most bearings you can do yourself. We had to remove the knuckles, and have the bearings pressed out and back in at a local business. Increasing cost. To make matters worse, the bearings i put in there from Auto Zone failed after 1.8 years!
Recommendation: Find a good mechanic business that wont charge you dealer prices and also insist on OEM Toyota bearings.
Just had both mine replaced: $743.99 (Compared to dealer of 1489.99).
Good Luck!
Is the wheel bearing on the front or the rear ????.. There is a big difference ...
