I'm no mechanic and I will not be responsible for any damage that you do if you follow these instructions and ruin something or get hurt. These instructions are only for a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country with a cable type regulator, not a arm and spring type of regulator.
Do not attempt to do this if you are not mechanically inclined. I like to tinker with things and am too cheap to take my vehicle to someone else to fix it, unless it is major, like a transmission. You may break your door panel when you remove it, which could make your spouse quite unhappy with you, so don't attempt this if you are unsure of any of this.
For those of you who are mechanically inclined and not sweating an altercation with your spouse, I found this repair was actually quite easy and save me between $100-$200.
1. Take of the door panel. Take out one screw behind the door opener handle and one on the pull handle. Then start at the bottom and pry out the panel carefully with a pry bar. There are plastic rivets that hold it in. You can reuse these if you don't break them. What I did is wiggled the door panel and slipped the rivets out and then later took the rivets out of the door and put them back on the panel. Once you get the rivets out on the bottom and side, then push up on the panel to unhook it from the top. Unplug the door lock wire, the power window wire and unhook the door opener handle by flipping round the little black holder then pulling the rod down. Pull back the vapor barrier.
2. I taped the window up to make sure it wouldn't fall during the process. Unscrew the power window switch from the door handle and then hook it back into the plug to test to see if it is the switch or the motor. Check to see if any voltage is going to the motor when you push the switch up and down. Make sure the key is turned on and that there aren't any fuses blown when you check.
3. Once you determine it's the motor that isn't working, you need to remove the motor and regulator from the door. Mine was held in by 3 plastic rivets. I was able, with a lot of work with a little screwdriver, to remove the all 3 rivets without ruining any of them. Then I use a vice grip to secure the cable to the regulator so nothing would move. Then unscrew the motor from the regulator and install the new one.
4. Pop the rivets back in, and remove the vise grip. Then test to see if the window works. If it does, replace everything you took off.
Replace the window regulator, it may come with the motor.
