Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active. Use a Auto Scanner tool, fallow step by step reading process, take note witch code number "show" as deffected, possible sensor fail, after replaces erase code using your Auto Scanner.Do it the same if another code number come out. Unless you have a code checker with a reset switch, the easiest way to reset the light is just to remove the negative battery terminal for several minutes. That will usually do it. Also, you don't actually need a code checker to pull the codes. With the engine shut off, you can quickly turne the key back and forth twice between the OFF and RUN positions. On the third switch from off to run leave it in the run position. The engine light will flash one or more two-digit codes. For example, if the light blinks twice, then pauses, then blinks three more times that's error code 2-3. Battery disconnect or a scan tool.
You may need to replace the power control module.
disconnect battery for 30 seconds
If you fix the reason the light came on in the first place the check engine light will reset itself after a few drive cycles.
Charging system failure:::,check alt.voltage regulator is inside engine controller
That is the check engine light, see related question below.
see link below, should look like the picture there.
That sounds like problem in the cluster. The high beam indicator is cross wired to the check engine light when it shouldn't be.
CAR WONT START Transmission may not shift. Check engine light could be on.
try replacing the thermostat
There is no individual fuse. The ECM has 2 or 3 fuses, and it controls the check engine light. There is no individual fuse. The ECM has 2 or 3 fuses, and it controls the check engine light.
Have the trans computer checked for codes, and ask a new question about the code you get.
