How do you reset or set factory alarm on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee?

Hey- I have the same question. I bought this 96 Cherokee and it has it's issues. I have no remote for the door locks and everytime I lock the doors I have to unlock the hatch before unlocking the other doors, otherwise the alarm will go off until I unlock the hatch. Now it has a new issue; twice this week the alarm has gone off. Once at 4am and the next time at 3am. It is not impossible that someone could have messed with my Jeep...twice in a week...without success....but it is unlikely. However, it seemes just as unlikely that the alarm system is failing, while I am out of town and twice in a week and both at wee hours in the morning!?!? Any thoughts?? jenifre gmail.com

∙ 11y agoUnder the back seat driver side is wiring harness with a purple wire with a yellow stripe. Ground this wire and it it will bypass the alarm system (horn will honk 3 times)and let you start your car. I have not ungrounded my yet.

∙ 15y agoClose all doors and then insert your key on the door handle. lock it then unlock it as if you did not have a keyless entry system. then try it. I hope it works!

if you have a factory alarm..you will need a power remote to reset the alarm. or you can reset the alarm be using the key in any of the door locks or in the rear hatch lock . just cycle the key to the unlock position to shut alarm off. to reset alarm to armed use the door lock power switch to lock the door then shut door and alarm will reset to on .
