I have a 2006Jeep Grand Cherokee, the light came on Service 4WD? How do I reset this message?
The computer has detected a problem and set a code. You will have to have it checked with a scan tool.
ADDITIONAL INFO: This is a known problem with newer model Jeeps. It MIGHT mean this is an issue or it may not. I have had this problem with my 2006 WK (Commander) 5.7L and my 4WD still functioned properly.
Unfortunately your only viable option is to take it to a 5 STAR Dealer and have it diagnosed, since this is a specialized system and most independent shops do not have the StarSCAN tool to service it. Chrysler DOES know about this problem and issued a Technical Service Bulletin on the subject.
Please keep in mind that while Chrysler DOES know there is a problem, they are not required to fix it at no charge if it is not within a warranty period. This particular problem is NOT a recall.
A "perform service" light on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited indicates that the vehicle is due for some kind of maintenance. This is likely to be a regular oil change or tune-up.
Key on and shut the doors. Press "step" until "0 miles to service" is displayed. Now press and hold "reset" until the mileage resets.
Time for an oil change.
I had the same problem with my 1997 Grand Cherokee and it was the dash mounted automatic light switch. The problem was also solved by turning the headlamps on manually.
The perform service reminder is a mileage counter for oil changes.
How do you install passenger tail light kit for a 2004 grand cherokee?
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
The perform service light is to let you know when your oil needs to be changed and other fluid levels checked. The milage intervals can be changed in your display.
