You don't; your local VW dealer does. ;)
an ignition device to ignite the propellant
i was at a demo for the jaws of life, and the guy said if at the seen of an accident and the airbags did not deploy just remove the key from the ignition. the airbag will not go off
The airbag will most likely not deploy on a 1996 Toyota Tacoma is the front fender is removed. The airbag sensor is designed to detected a combination of speed and impact before deploying.
From a megane owner: This is usually because of a wiring fault that can be repaired at you dealership. Not a DIY job!!
On the rear of the steering wheel there is a pair of screw holes that contain torx head bolts, undo these and the airbag comes away from the steering wheel. Once the airbag is free you'll see a yellow tag that also need to be removed, once that is removed the airbag has been removed. All of this MUST be done with the battery DISCONNECTED or you risk the airbag deploying in your face. If you are unsure of the process or are not experienced please leave this to a professional.
use ignition key in passanger sideof the dash with door open to turn airbag on the light goes out
insert ignition key into passenger airbag slot on the front dash and turn to off
Disconnect the battery, which you should do anyway when replacing an ignition. There will then be no danger of it inflating.
You could just unhook your negative battery cable.
I have not seen a way to do it without removing the steering wheel (and airbag).
sounds like earth fault under drivers airbag, very common but will need to follow process to remove airbag.
unhook neg battery cable then wait 10 mins for disgarge of capaciter then proceed to change ignition
