There is one thing you could try that has never failed me and is very easy and wotn cost you a cent. Disconnect the Negative battery cable from the battery. Leave it off for about 10 minutes. Reconnect and turn the ign. on. DO NOT start the Jeep. Allow the light to go off on there own. If the light are on after about 1 min. Repeat the steps one more time. If it still doesn't go out it could be an idication of a more serious problem. Give it a shot.
While a 'maintenance required' light may really mean something is wrong that should be fixed, the 'service engine soon' light in my Blazer comes on for stuff like not having the fuel fill cap properly seated, or just because it wants to.The light will stay on as long as the on-board computer tells it to, which brings us to the computer. The data items stored in the computer stay in their present state as long as there's power to the computer. Disconnect the black(+)cable from your battery and then reconnect it. Besides making you lose all the presets on your FM radio and making the dash clock flash '12:00', this should also reset your onboard computer and the 'maintenance required' light should go out. If the light doesn't go out, or if it comes on again anytime soon, have a shop run an engine analyzer diagnostic and come up with a fault code. At least then you'll know what the problem is.
Short answer: I have never found any method to reset the "Maintenance Required" light other than having the dealer reset or removing the bulb. The former costs $$ the latter is free.
Long : On the Wrangler the "Maintenance Required" light is triggered by a timer function and is not associated with a particular fault. Most people associate it with the scheduled replacement of the O2 sensor. The "Check Engine" light is the more serious and is associated with some sort of discrepancy. The "Check Engine" light can be reset by disconnecting the negative battery terminal but don't do so before retrieving the fault codes stored in the computer.
