This light has to be reset by the person doing the oil change. It is not automatic when the oil is changed.
There are two oil sensors on a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. One is to monitor oil pressure and the other is to let you know if the oil level is low.
With engine off. Turn key to on. Press accelerator fully three times. This should reset light.
The oil pressure sensor, on a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, is located on the front of the engine. The sensor will be just above the oil pan.
There is a sensor in the side of the oil pan. It will be defective.
On many GM vehicles you turn the key to ON (do not start)then depress the gas pedal 3 times. The light will flash twice to indicate it received the info. If that doesn't work, check the display panel on the middle of the dash. The info center can be toggled to get to the reset screen.
