If you mean by "timing gears", putting on a new timing belt then it's easy: The top sprocket has a line etched in it. This line should be at 12 o'clock. The bottom pulley also has an etch on it also, this should be lined up at the little black pointer (located about 2pm). The trick is to tighten the belt so that when it's tension is correct, the top sprocket is set at 12pm and the bottom pulley line matches up with the black pointer.

One thing to add to get the belt on you have to loosen the three Allen head screws that hold the water pump in and turn the assembly in order to get the belt on and then twist it back to take the slack out of the belt. Once you do this reset the screws and you're done.

Does my 2000 Chevy cavalier have a timing belt or timing chain?

Neither its a gear set. Well depending if you have the 2.2 Ecotec or the 2.4 QUAD DOCH. Those engines have timing chains. The 2.0 has 2 gears. one on the crank and one on the cam. The others both have timing chains because they are DOCH 16 Valvers

Where is the lifter in the 1999 Saturn?

The lifters are underneath the camshaft, they sit on top of each valve, if it's 1.9 liter engine. You must remove the cam, or cams, cam gear ('s). Make sure you make sure the timing chain stays on the exact teeth of the gears, if removing the cam gears. The lifters sit on top of each valve, 8 or 16.

How do you time the dynamic balance gears on a K341 Kohler engine?

you can actually go to Kohlers website and download a manual for free that will walk you thru step by step how to do this. Their website address is www.kohlerengines.com You can buy one a a kohler repair center I believe it is a part # tp-2379, or old number of ens-575 It is actually pretty complex without the timing gear tool, there are marks on both the balance gears and crank gear and its a matter of counting teeth on both the timing gear and crankshaft gear. There are two styles of timing gears and the procedure differs for each one. follow the directions very carefully. Alternately, they can simply be left out of the engine without ill effect, most 12 hp and under do not use them but the 14/16 hp units all have them
