With a OBD2 scan tool. The ODB2 Sacn tool is the best way. Most scan tools will explain what the code is. To get just the codes, insert the ignition key, turn it from "off" to the "on" position three times ending in the "on" postion. Do this rather quickly, one second for each position. (DO NOT START THE CAR) It should display the codes using the odometer digital display. Have a paper and pencil handy incase there are multiple codes. Of course you'll have to search the web for what the codes mean. Google will give you many results to weed through. Good luck!
Check the trans for codes with a scanner and diagnose the code you get.
Trouble code P0320 means:Ignition/distibutor engine speed input circuit malfunction
55 means end of message. Any other codes are the ones to fix.
Have the trans computer checked for codes, and ask a new question about the code you get.
Disconect the battery for a few minutes!
yes tun the key from off to ignitiont that's just before it starts the engine 3 times then look at the odomiter it will give you codes
go to auto zone to get your check engine light codes read. When it blinks that means there is more than one problem. Those codes will most likely help you figure out why your car is trying to die. I have a '98 Intrepid as well and the array of problems it has is amazing. Good luck...
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem - most auto parts stores will do this free
it means end of codes is all 55
scanning for codes will indicate if the CPS is at fault.
Sorry, only a scanner can retrieve trouble codes on OBDII vehicles.....
Scanner,is the only means to re-set trouble codes quickly, although after 30 engine starts the Controller will automaticly "erase"the code(s) if it doesn't see a problem with that circuit anymore...
