Open the default "Paint" program that comes installed with windows. Go to "File" and select "From Scanner or Camera". Choose your option and click 'okay'. You do not need to press the scanner button located on the HP Officejet 4315.

1. Open control panel
2. Under Hardware & Sound click Devices and Printers
3. Click HP Photosmart C4600
4. Plug printer cable and outlet. Note: This could of also been the first step
5. Wait for printer to fully start up (Estimate: 30 seconds)
6. Under Scanner Actions click Scan a Document or Photo
7. Set the options if you need to change them
8. Then click preview or scan
Time Taken: Estimate of probably two minutes
How to Send a Scanned Document (Requires internet)
9. After open document
10. Click Save-as
11. Save it to the desktop
12. Open email
13. Sign in to any email browser (E.G. Gmail, Yahoo, Aol, Hotmail)
14. Click compose
15. Click paper clip (File attachment)
16. Click desktop
17. Click the scanned file
18. Then send, you're done
