Coffee and espresso are two separate drinks, though the words are often used as synonyms. Espresso beans are specific types of coffee beans, and the espresso they make is thicker than coffee.
You need a colander whose holes are large enough to allow the smaller rice grains to pass through, whilst the larger beans can not. To avoid having to do this in the future, either cook the beans and rice in separate pans, or place the beans inside a clean cotton bag placed into the same pan of rice.
Simply pour them all onto a plate and physically separate them. Kidney beans are much larger and very easy to separate to one side.
One good way to sort beans of different sizes might be weight, but this requires each bean to fall within separate ranges of weight, which for beans doesn't usually happens. Average size could work as well, with holes to filter them through, but this only works if the four types of beans are significantly different in size. Both of these work, but are imperfect.
1) The beans remain separate when mixed and do not combine to form bean compounds. 2) The distinct nature of the beans is clearly observable (as in immiscible solutions). 3) One, several, or all of the kinds of beans can be separated physically from the mixture.
Dry beans should be soaked in water for at least 12 hours and more appropriately, 24-hours, before use. It's best to separate the dry beans first - removing any that are deformed or bad or not even beans... just a casual scan of them is fine. Then rinse the beans. Then soak the beans and change the water about every 4-8 hours. Use salted water. This will remove the toxins that cause flatulence (farting) - and also soften the beans up so they are easier to cook. Nobody likes grainy, mealy beans.
