I have a 1995 Skylark and there is no distributor cap.
Get a big slotted screwdriver and push down on the spring-loaded screws on either side of the cap and turn them outwards.
Spark plug wires porous? Defective distributor cap? Defective ignition coil?
If it has a coolant tank, that's the "cap".
It uses the cap on the coolant recovery tank as its "radiator cap".
No.
it is distributorless no cap to replace has coil packs
It is underneath the car. Right by where the oil filter is there is a little cap, and that is it.
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces AWAY from the engine
Check the coil, coil wire, rotor, and distributor cap.

The distributor cap should have a 1 marked on it On the V8 engines ( regardless of firing order ) the # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the rear and slightly towards the drivers side of the engine On the 4.9 L ( 300 cubic inch ) straight 6 - the # 1 position on the distributor cap faces away from the engine
