setting the timing is automatic on Kia sportages, when you replace the timing belt ,this is were the manual timing is set by lining up all of your timing marks.It is not like the old days where you move the distributor 2 or 3 degress one way or another to aline the timing.
I have a computer that i plug in to monitor the timing signals coming from the camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor to see if timing is right.
The old timing light can be used to see if your close but adjustment for the average joe is out of the question.
