On the 1994 Yamaha Breeze the valve clearance on the intake should be set at 0.006 inches. The valve clearance on the exhaust should be set at .011 inches.
how to set engine timing for mazda t3500
Valve clearance of Volvo f12, are set using a feeler gauge on the lash adjuster.
the valve clearance should be set at .002 for the intake and the exhaust
They are to set @ .005 in
Mazda 323 familia valve timing set up
2.0 dohc is set with selective shim fit
.006" intake .007" exhaust Standard screw and locknut adjusters. Set the clearance when the engine is cold. Be sure to set each valve with cylinder at TDC. (top dead center) I suggest replacing the valve cover rubber gasket when adjustig the valves, as they do get old and can crack/leak.
Take out the spark plugs and turn engine over till the timing mark is tdc in the sight glass. The sight glass is behind the generator cover which can be removed with a phillips head screwdriver. One of the pistons should be at the top when you do this, it will be the one you check first for valve clearance. Valve clearance on older models will be 10mm for intake, 15 mm for exhaust. After you set that piston roll the engine over till the other piston is at top dead center, the timing mark should be on the arrow as well. Now set the valve clearance for that cylinder. After you do this roll the engine over a couple of times and recheck valve clearance on both cylinders to make sure you got it right. That's it! There is no way to set timing on an engine that I know of other than moving the timing chain on the gears.
torque wrench Not with a torque wrench ! Obtain your proper specs (clearance and sequence at TDC for each corresponding valve) set the valves using the specs obtained and the proper thickness gauge .Tighten each rocker to valve clearance until you have a slight drag on your gauge between the rocker and valve.
You need to do it by replacing the tappets between the cams and the valve cups. Theoretically it can be done without removing the camshafts if you position the can to point towards you and press the valve cup with a screwdriver while you grab the folding tappet with long nose pliers. You need a set of tappets to adjust the actual clearance or you may try to swap them get the right one for each valve. You also need a feeler blade to check the clearance and have to do all of this on a cold engine (few hours of cooling of were running previously).
The manufacturer's cam card will tell you how much clearance, and whether the clearance is measured hot or cold. From the point when the #1 cylinder is at TDC you can set 1, 2, 5, and 7 intake valves and 1, 3, 4, and 8 exhaust valves. Rotate the engine one revolution and set the rest.
