To specify owner privileges in Mac OS X select the file or folder with a single click then either right click and select Get Info or press the Command key (cmd) and I to open the Info window. At the bottom of the window you can allocate privileges for individuals or groups or add new names to the list by clicking the +(plus) button. You can specify the owner from the adjacent drop down menu. You need to be an administrator for the computer to make these changes.

Try taking ownership of the folder. To do that,click Advanced on the security tab of the folder's properties box. The Advanced Security box appears. Click the Owner tab, click EDIT. The owner can then be edited. The current owner is displayed near the top of the box. Select a user from the Change owner to list and click APPLY to make that user the new owner.
