The transfer case is bolted to the rear of the transmission in the same place that the tailshaft would be if it were a two wheel drive. When the transfer case is removed the area that was connected to the tranny will NOT be a protruded area. In other words the transfer case housing is not an appendage sticking out. Be careful niot to get Transmission Fluid all over you when you separate them. It is a bit messy.
It is under the car behind the tranny
dex/merc 3 automatic tranny fluid
7.2 automatic, 4wd transfer case 1.8 ,if you are changing filter and seal in tranny 4.4 only.
There is no Transfer case oil. Just Transmission oil and that goes in the dipstick tube after the dipstick is removed. if its a standard there is a plug on the side of the tranny underneat fill to plug level
i would not do that, because it causes uncirculated heat in your transfer case and tranny, so its best to have all wheel off the ground
I would imagine you have to pull the tranny and transfer case, Also that part of the exhaust just to access it.
1000# DSG tranny 2000# manual tranny
tranny could be gone.or you may need tranny fluid or you have too much tranny fluid.
On a standard tranny there is no reservoir. On an automatic tranny it is internal to the tranny. The fluid resides in the transmission pan.
