Check wiring diagram one wire should be "constant hot" for memory
You need to switch the red wire with the yellow wire and it will not lose the memory any more. One wire is coming from the ignition and the other from the battery directly.
yes a 12v constant is a wire that has 12 volts even with the ignition off, you should not have to run a new wire the existing stereo should have one for station memory. with the ignition off test all wires on the stereo connector, only one should have power.
There is a wire to the stereo that has power all the time ( straight to battery ) so that it retains its memory. This wire is disconnected, broken, or faulted somewhere. If it is an aftermarket stereo it might never have been connected. In the stereo wiring harness there should be one wire that has power with the ignition off, that is the one it will connect to for memory. If there is not one start checking fuses and wire continuity.
i do not know go to a car stereo install ... store
you need to swap the ignition live with the permanent live just unpick the clips and swap them job done
there is no ignition wire for the stereo, so what you need to do (what i did) is take the ignition wire from the cigarette lighter, as it only works when the ignition is on. i extended my stereo live ignition cable (u can use any wire) and fed it through to the cigarette lighter cable, made a little cut in the plastic casing of the wire, attached my wire to it, covered it with electrical tape, and voila, the stereo now works as normal!! hope this helps, if its not clear, let me know. rikxx
yellow
your ground wire for the stereo is connected to the ignition wire of the car
It is for the dial light or the statiod memory
yes all u need is 12volt continuous power wire. usually yellow 4 stereo memory,12volt accessory wire, [supplies power when ignition turned on,usually red] and a earth wire [black] or u may get earth from stereo mounted 2 metal frame
take it back to the guy who put the stereo in and complain.
As long as the connection is hot with key on or off.
