Another Answer:Dogs are natural born feces eaters. They come with the training and feces-eating background. Mother Bitch Dog licks them when they urinate, and defecate; some bitch-moms eat the feces. Allways in plain sight of the pup: this has been done before, and Mom is carrying on a long tradition. First, dissuade yourself of the notion that the pup is setting out to do something to you. Waste not, want not; the dog is another species; you are kin, but dont work the same. The WNWN part has to do with watching another animal grow a lot faster than you and yours can grow. If you are lucky, you can see a whole life in your lifetime, and have the chance at responsibity for it: that is, you did it' it's yours and you created it.

THAT IS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, and you will either live with it or spend serious time persuading the quadruped who has been here a lot longer than you why it would be in its interest not to eat feces where and when you can see it. This requires serious thought. Not easy when the carpet, wooden floor, linolium, or just where you step getting out of bed, is very near to your feet.

The oldest breed is probabally only about 2500 years old. i don't know the best way to stop it, but dogs like humans do not digest all the nutrients that they eat, and they have a higher sense of smell, in which they can smell more undigested nutrients in their excrement, and give it second try. This behavior is quite common in certain types of animals.
