That engine needs fuel, compression and spark to start and run. You are missing one of those.
Have you pressure tested to rule out a blown head gasket? Does the cooling system build up full pressure and start dribbling into the overflow long before the engine is hot? If so, it could be exhaust gas leaking into the cooling system.
It's overheating or you have internal/external leak. If it hasn't overheated, looks for external leaks first. Start there
A used Subaru Legacy will be less expensive than a new vehicle. Purchasing from a local source will allow one to view and test drive the vehicle. A local Subaru dealership can be a good place to start. As well sources that list vehicles for sale such as Craigslist and Auto Trader can be a great resource for locating a specific used automobile at a good price.
check fuel pressure, also a weak ignition coil or fould plugs could cause hard starting
A bad injector can cause your engine to flood out and not start. The bad injector might be completely open and shooting too much fuel into the system.
usually a bad water temp sensor. the engine computer does not use the same one as the one near the speedometer. when this goes bad the car is very difficult to start when it is cold. It is not very expensive and it is easy to change.
