Feed the animals at set intervals during the day, and remove the bowls after feeding so either animals will not be able to eat each other's food. Alternatively, put the cat food somewhere up high or in a different room where the dog cannot reach.

Without being there in your house, it is hard to guess who is eating your dog's food. Do you have small children, cats or other pets? The main thing you can do is not to free feed your dog. It is not healthy for your dog anyway. Your dog should be fed twice daily a certain amount of food, then any left over food should be picked up after about 10-15 minutes. Your dog will not get fat that way or become picky about eating. Plus whoever or whatever is eating your dog's food will not have access to it anymore.

It is also not good if you ever have guests over, as the dog will sit and watch your guests eating until they feed the dog, and that can be quite unpleasent for the guest. But every once in a while as a treat will not hurt :-)
