I would go to a local mechanic or a Chevrolet dealership to take the truck bed off a 2001 Silverado. It is very dangerous to do this process on your own.
unbolt the bed and tilt it up. you dont have to take the bed all the way off. there are 6 bolts holding the bed on spray them good . use the same procedure for changing a fuel pump
take off the bolts attaching the bed to the frame
the easiest way is to take the bed off. and use a flat-head screw-driver to spin off the ring that holds down the fuel sending unit then pull the fuel sending unit/fuel pump unit straight up and pull off the fuel pump itself then put it all back takes about an hour
you cant
to remove a bed on a Chevy truck you have to 1 take the gas filler neck looose (three bolts) 2 un hook the taillight wires 3 ther are 8 bolts in the frame rail that hold the bed on the should be 18mm take them out and lift it off
take the bed off! remove the scres around the fuel filler neck and remove the bolts holding the bed on the frame. There are only like 6 or 10 depending on model year i think. Lift off with a friend and do it that way, its way easier :)
Open the tail gate and look at the cable that holds the tail gate and where it bolts to the side of the bed, You will see 2 phillps screews, remove them and the light will come out.
The push pins that are holding trim to the front bumper on a 2001 Silverado are actually pop rivets. These rivets have to be cut off to remove them. A hacksaw will be needed to accomplish this.
You first must take off the handle to see what your problem is. Most likely it is one of the plastic pieces that holds the release rods to the handle. To take the handle off there are three 14mm bolts on the inside of the tailgate.
take the bolts out and unplug wiring harness, unbolt gas fill tube and lift the bed off
No u anit got take the balljoints out.
you take your feet off the ground before going to bed
