In order to remobe the crank pully u need to put lift the front end of the car take off the driver side tire and put the car into gear. While having someone hold the breaks. Use a break over bar with a 22mm socket and use foot to push towards back of car. After a few attempts the bolt should easly break loose.

You may as well do the 60k and change all of the other parts involved while you are at it. The motor is an interference motor and putting the timing belt on improperly will cause the pistons to hit the valves so "Beware"

I suspect you are talking about the crank pulley delaminating. The crankshaft pulley is a two piece metal affair with a bonded rubber section between the two metal sections which acts as a vibration dampener. Now these cars are getting older the rubber bonding perishes and the pulley separates. I have two friends with GTO's who's pulleys have gone. I recommend replacing the original pulley with a solid billet one, as I have done, that way theres nothing to split!

generally if a crankshaft pulley comes off, it is either thru the rubber bushings in it wearing out and tearing or the bolts came out or sheared off the new pulley wheel will only go back on one way usually with a key to locate proper placement on crankshaft to enable correct ignition timing FYI the crankshaft pulley is called the HARMONIC BALANCE any auto dealer for your make of car can supply proper parts needed
