I feel that if the particular individual is your client, then it really should not be any of your concern about their body odour. It is understandable that it may not be very pleasant to work with them, but you need to understand that these clients are paying you so they want you to help them, not correct their personal hygiene issues. Personally, I am the kind of person that does not prefer to be the one to inform one of this issue, but someone needs to do it. Sometimes you need to understand the cultural and religious background of the person to understand their reasoning. Sometimes people are not even aware that deodorant exists, merely because they were never introduced to it in their native country. A person usually gets a vibe from people when they do not look/smell/etc very pleasant. I would advise that you give the individual some time to adjust to the American lifestyle. However, if they continue to give off an unpleasant odour, confront them with it outside of the office. Ask if you could take them out and mention it very subtlety. You do not want to embarrass the person, because you could loose a client, or maybe even a friend. Be courteous of others, and approach the topic in a polite and friendly manner.

Alternative answer: It might also be considered that a person who does not bathe adequately could be suffering from a condition like hypothermia, making them feel too cold to bathe, and they may not be exactly aware of their problem; they could also have damage to their sense of smell. So realizing you do not know the reason why the person is not observing hygiene may make it a little easier to say something in the spirit of helping.

Another alternative goes back to cultural differences such as things that different cultures eat. Nonetheless, if it is a client, I wouldn't say anything unless you can do so in a very tactful, hinting way. It's not safe ground to try and tell a client they smell. Sometimes honesty pays off, but sometimes it pisses off. If you decide to mention it in some form, be very careful. That person is your bread and butter.
