Will a 350 Hei Distributor fit a 454 Chevy?

yes, as long as the 454 is not a tall deck block.

Will a 454 distributor fit on a 350 Chevy motor?

As long as it is not a tall deck, it should fit fine. If it is a tall deck, you'd need to add .400" shims under the collar to fit the small block.

What is the rod length for a 454 Chevy?

Stock rod length is 6.135 inches, unless it's a tall deck engine, in which case the rods are .400 longer (6.535), tall deck engines were used in big trucks like dump trucks and were usually 427 cu in, if you're talking about a pickup truck or a car it's most likely a short deck version. Deck height on a short deck big block Chevy is 9.800" from the center line of the crankshaft to the deck, deck height on a tall deck big block Chevy is 10.200" from the center line of the crankshaft to the deck.

Can you put an HEI ignition out of a 454 into a 350?

No you cannot. Big block parts are all different then small block parts. The distributor cap WILL WORK. That answer is incorrect. Big Block and small block Chevrolet distributors physically interchange with no problem (unless it's a tall deck block like a 502)

What is the difference between a 454 Chevy truck engine and a 454 Chevy car engine?

I don't think there's a difference, I base my answer on we removed a 454 from a 82 Chevy Suburban on the engine under the timing cover embossed on the front of the engine, "Hi-Perf, Pass. Hope this helps. There's a difference...... Light Truck and Passenger Car engines are the same. Medium and Heavy Duty GM Trucks use a tall deck block. The distance from the crank center line to the top of the cylinders is .4" taller than the short deck block. The block is beefier and the cam is raised. Most parts are interchangeable and one will bolt in place of the other. The tall deck block is taller and wider than the short deck so there are clearance issues when installing in a car. They are commonly used in drag racing because the thicker cylinder walls and the raised cam allow engine builders to bore the cylinders bigger and install longer stroke cranks then can be done on a short deck block.

What is the stock stroke length on a 454 crankshaft from a truck block with a height of 10.2. or were there any stock 4.250 stroke crankshafts produced from chevy.?

Have not seen a 454 with a 10.2 deck. have seen a 427& 366 10.2 truck blocks that have a 3.76 stroke crank, 454 should be a 4.00 stroke crank. The cranks are the same in a short deck 8.2 and a tall deck 10.2 the difference is made up in piston height and # of rings on piston. Not seen a stock 4.250 stroke crankshafts.

Is there a difference between 454 Chevy block and a corvette 454 block?

yes there is.

Are the intake manifolds on a 454 Chevy truckengine and a car 454 interchangeable?

I think the truck block has taller deck height but if rare I think can be machined to fit. Talk to engine builder before you buy.

Will a Chevrolet 454 distributor work for a 350 Chevrolet engine?

Yes, it will work. If the 454 was a tall deck design, you'd need to shim the distributor up .400" to mate with the 350 oil pump shaft.

Can you use 454 heads on a 350 small block?

No, They won't even begin to fit. 454 is a BIG block and a350 is a small block.

How do you tell a 454 cubic inch engine from a 427 cubic inch engine?

the only real diff is 454 has a longer through on crank the appearance is all the same is it a car block or truck block a truck block deck height is higher than car block manifolds wont interchange or distributor if its a truck block throw it away it will say truck on the back below where trans bolts most likely a 454 and if u really want to know call the parts stor they will tell uwere to look for casting #. these engine's are no good unless u think u r going to run more than 500 hp or in a truck u r defeating the power to weight ratio concept.

What would win in a race a truck with a 454 big block or a 350 small block?

The 454 it would have better acceleration
