Modulating Valve ???? If you can tell me what system this valve would be in I can tell you the correct name for it and its location. example IPR valve in the high pressure oil system.

As far as I can tell, there is no EGR valve on 1993 Ford Aerostar 3.0L engines. I have searched and found none and the vacuum hose routing decal in the engine compartment does not show an EGR valve.
It should tell you on top of your oil fill neck on the engine. My Ford Escape does.
Go to NAPA or AutoZone, they will tell you.
Look in the manual
It totally depends on the weight being pulled. Your owners manual will tell you how much weight your Escape can pull, you need to have an idea of the weight you are pulling.
