How do you tell if the fuel pump is out on a car if it wont start?

if you try to start the car an it sounds like it wants to turn over but it doesn't instead it sounds like its out of gas than that should be a sign of a bad fuel pump. which really aren't cheap if it is out make sure you shop around alot cause mines went out on a 2002 Buick regal an they charged me way to much the part in it self was almost 300 i wanna say around 250 than the labor was a killer but i shopped around an i got pepboys to put the price down on meinekie an i guess it worked out okay still it was 600 dollars good luck

sometimes your car wont start and you will be able to tell when you accelerate..your engine wont get as much gas.You can hear the pump when you turn the key if you dont hear the pump shooting fuel through the lines you have a bad pump.
