How do you tell someone how you feel without scaring them away?

It's true that some men are afraid of commitment, but then you want to weed these guys out of your life. Many men love to hear from someone they love that they are loved too. Go for it! If the guy can't take it, then you've just had a good short-cut in life and it's time to move on until you find the right guy that would love to hear those words. Take a chance that this guy loves you and just say, "I love you because _________." and give your reasons. Hopefully he will tell you he loves you too. If he can't handle it then he can't handle much out in the world and you don't need someone like that around you.

AnswerOn the other side of Marcy's answer, what if it's to soon. Different people move at different speeds. Especially when it comes to men and women. Women tend to fall in love alot faster then men, or realize that they are in love alot faster. A man may do alot of things to show a woman that he loves her, but he may not realize or he is too afraid to say "I Love You" too soon. This is just how I see it. I know that my man loves being aroud me, he loves doing special things for me, but he has been hurt before, (and so have I) so he want to make sure that when I say I love him, it is sincere. We have been together for 3 months now, and I think that I need to slow it down and just throw so much love at him, so there will be no doubt in his mind that I am in love with him. However let him know how you feel now, because no one is promised tomorrow.Wiki User

Small Talk Becomes Big.Well...first you can start by sending him annonymous love letters. Secondly, talk to him ALOT more, like about random stuff. Get to know him, let him get to know you. What i did was we asked each other random questions...like what's your favorite band and color and animal and if you have any siblings and such. Small talk is a very big deal. Then you'll know if you REALLY like him and he can decide for sure if he really likes you. If he likes what he hears, he'll love you.Wiki User

Perhaps if you do not know him well enough to just say "I love you", then maybe you do not really know him enough to love HIM, maybe you love a fantasy of what you imagine he is like. Suggest you spend more time with him, get to know the real him as well as you can. This will show him you have some feelings for him, and this will help you see if you love the real him or some imagined version of him.

∙ 16y agoHe can tell by how you treat him. men like to be respected and admired. That doesn't mean you're his slave or anything. He should respect you in return. One thing.......you should never sleep with a guy just to express that you love him-so if he tells you that you should-dump him. A guys that loves you would never let you feel bad about not sleeping with him.

∙ 18y agoIt depends on how well you know the person, how long you have been dating or been around this person, and how comfortable you are together. If you feel comfortable with each other then take the risk and express yourself. You could say something like, "We've been going together a long time, and I really care for you." This person is either going to feel the same or isn't and it's best to know early on in the relationship. Usually, the news is good. Men are a little shy in most cases and find it hard to express themselves to women and sometimes they need a little shove. Women on the other hand love to be told they are loved, pretty, etc. So, even if the woman doesn't feel the same about you, you can't go wrong telling her.

You have to tell them gently. If you seem to forward and demanding in a way, then they might feel overwhelmed or even scared. Have a normal convo then just say "I have feelings for you" or "can we talk...."
