No it does not have a crankshaft sensor, the engine control module uses the distributor for crankshaft position.
It does not have one...everything is in the distributor except for the amplifier module which mounts on the fender well.
i do believe you can. but,,,,,,, you have to check the length of the shaft in comparesson to the other. make sure the cam gear is correct. and see if the 1985 distributor is electic module or points , or just electric.
There was only a visible cam sensor on '98-2001 Explorer 302's. If you have a distributor, your cam sensor is in the distributor. If you don't have a distributor, it is where the distributor used to be on the front of the intake manifold.
Only if you change the drive gear. The gear is different on the 289/302/351W distributor. Outside of that it will work.

The TFI module sits on the front of the distributor. I was able to remove it without removing the distributor. Its a rectangular grey or black plastic module with a large electrical connector. Napa sells a special wrench for removing the screws. They are small and difficult to get to. I would recommend this tool as it helped me greatly. I think its called a Ford TFI Module wrench. Remove the large electrical connector and remove the two screws holding the module to the distributor. Apply a generous amount of thermal paste to the back of the new module. Make sure there is an even coating and no air pockets in the thermal grease. If this step is not done properly it will burn up the new module. Install the new module on the distributor and fasten screws. Install connector.
1983 doesnt have a crankshaft position sensor. you have an ignition module located on the side of the distributor.
absolutely not the 302 is in the front and the 460 is in the rear
OP here- Got it looked at and the entire distributor went out. Problem solved.
