chances are if there is no spark then the ignition module inside the distributor needs to be replaced as far as checking it goes just pop the module out and autozone or advance auto may be able to tell u where to take it to have it tested
The rotor inside the distributor should be pointing at the #1 spark plug.
A very good possibility is the opti spark distributor.If this distributor gets slightly damp,it can cause several problems.
Won't fire as in no spark? Replace the ingition module inside the distributor.
4.3? Follow the spark plug wires from the spark plugs, they will lead you right to the distributor.

What is spark plug's position? tell me.
Is it a brand new distributor ? If not then replace the module and pick-up coil in the distributor that you have.
